Meghalaya CM Inaugurates Direct Indigo Flight from Kolkata to Shillong

Kolkata, July 20, 2019:

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Saturday inaugurated a direct Indigo flight from Kolkata to Shillong, which he believes will improve trade and commerce in the state of Meghalaya.

The Meghalaya Chief Minister boarded the flight along with colleagues and travellers. Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "On board the first flight with colleagues and travellers. Happy to inaugurate the indigo flight to Shillong from Kolkata. I am sure the introduction of direct flight to Shillong will boost tourist flow in the State."

Earlier, the CM had met officials of Coal India Ltd in Kolkatta. "We look forward to a progressive relationship to foster economic and systematic exploration of coal mining in the state of Meghalaya", he said. The CM said that the discussion revolved around the Supreme Court ruling that took place. He said that the discussions have been "very productive."

The CM announced on Twitter that the Meghalaya administration will initiate measures as a follow up action plan post lifting of the coal ban in Meghalaya which had been initiated by the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The team from Meghalaya also partook in a brainstorming session along with officials of the Coal India Ltd.
