Meghalaya CM Pays Tribute to Late PA Sangma Ahead of Sis Agatha's WeddingMEGHALAYA

Shillong, November 21, 2019:

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday paid tribute to his father, the late PA Sangma, on the day of his sister Agatha Sangma's wedding. Sangma was also accompanied by Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in paying his respects.

Sangma, sharing images of them paying their respects at the memorial stone where his father was laid to rest, captioned it, "Seeked blessings from my late Father before Agatha exchange her wedding vows with Patrick. As every parent, he would've been proud to walk her down the aisle and we wish he were here today."

In the tweet, the Meghalaya Chief Minister also thanked the Assam Finance Minister, Biswa Sarma for accompanying him.

It may be mentioned here that Agatha, who is the Member of Parliament from Tura, got married to Patrick SR Marak today in a glittering ceremony attended by the who's who of the Northeast.

It may be mentioned here that Agatha is a Member of Parliament of India, and a part of the 17th Lok Sabha. She represented the Tura constituency of Meghalaya following the 2009 parliamentary election as a candidate of the Nationalist Congress Party. She was the youngest Minister of State in the UPA 2nd Manmohan singh Cabinet.

The wedding ceremony has taken place at the Sacred Shrine in Tura, and has been attended by many key dignitaries from the state, including Assam Minister Biswa Sarma, as well as soccer superstar Bhaichung Bhutia.
