SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday announced that the COVID-19 containment measures issued on June 11 will continue until further orders.
The decision was taken considering the current COVID scenario in the state.
"In order to safeguard the State from an uncontrollable surge in #Covid_19, the Containment Measures issued on 11th of June, 2021 will be reinstated throughout the State w.e.f 21st June 2021 until further orders", tweeted the Chief Minister.
As per the earlier order, the lockdown in East Khasi Hills District was extended till June 21.

The Chief Minister further stated that respective Deputy Commissioners are empowered to take decisions based on the local situation.
He reiterated the citizens to get themselves vaccinated.
"Vaccination is picking up pace in the State but we must continue our efforts and encourage others to take the jab. No one is safe until everyone is safe", he said.
The state achieved highest single day vaccination coverage so far by administering COVID vaccines to 17,172 persons in a single day on Thursday.
