In keeping with the 'Fit India' initiative of the Central Government, the Conrad K Sangma led Meghalaya Government has resolved to set up open air gyms across all districts of the State.
Today, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma installed an open air gym in Tura's DC park, and resolved to open such parks in all the districts of the State.

In a video posted on his official Twitter handle, Sangma stated that this is an effort to promote fitness in the State as per the Prime Minister's initiative, and resolved to introduce similar gyms across the State. These gyms will enable those who do not have access to regular gyms get some amount of exercise, he said.
To promote a healthy lifestyle, the Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has also introduced a 'walk to work' initiative for all the people of the State on Wednesdays.
Leading by example, the Chief Minister walked to work to launch the movement and urged the people of Meghalaya to do the same. “I am urging all the people — the office-goers, both Government and private, and even school goers to walk”, he said.
