Meghalaya man beats a stray dog to death with iron rod for meat

SHILLONG: In an inhuman act a man from Meghalaya have killed a female stray dog in Lawmali, Shillong for meat.

The incident took place yesterday when the defenseless animal was beaten with an iron rod while resting, said reports.

The injured dog was taken to a veterinary hospital immediately but it succumbed to her injuries.

Shillong Happytails later respectfully buried the dog.

The accused has been identified as a homeless person.

When police questioned to justify his inhumane crime, the perpetrator stated he killed the dog for meat.

Police have already arrested the accused person, and an investigation is underway.
