NONGSTOIN: A man in Themiew, Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills, was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl

The accused, Albert Lyngkhoi (18), a resident of Mawlum Ramkdait village, committed the offence on April 8.

According to the police, he allegedly went to the minor's house in New Nongstoin on the night of April 8 and allegedly committed the offence,.

Following that, the minor's father filed a complaint with the Nongstoin Police Station, and the accused was apprehended based on the complaint.

According to the most recent government data released on September 29, 2020, India reported an average of 87 rape cases per day in 2019 and 4,05,861 cases of crime against women in the year, up more than 7% from 2018.
