SHILLONG: A patient was carried by villagers and put on a bamboo raft in order to cross a mighty river owing to the absence of a bridge in the West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.
The 71-year-old patient named Horen Shyrkon was carried by his relatives on his shoulders and put on a bamboo boat made by the villagers to cross the Wah Riwiang river.

This incident occurred at Nongshyrkon village of West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya state.
The family members carried the patient to the primary health care centre of Maweit town
which is 20 km from the Nong Shyrkon village.
As there is no bridge to cross the river, villagers often struggle to cross the river using traditional bamboo boats.
Nongshyrkon village is located in Nongstoin Tehsil of West Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya.
It is situated 47 km away from sub-district headquarter Nongstoin and 47 km away from district headquarter Nongstoin.
