The Meghalaya Government is making grand plans to upscale the much-awaited 'India International Cherry Blossom Festival', 2019 (expected to be held in November), in the State.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma held a meeting with several top officials of the Government to discuss the upcoming festival in the State.
Taking to Twitter, Sangma wrote, "Meeting with officials and Minister Forest Lahkmen Rymbui, Health Minister A L Hek in preparation to host the India International Cherry Blossom festival 2019. We are planing to collaborate with South Korea to upscale the event."
It may be mentioned that in recent times, the Meghalaya adminsitration has been on a spree to develop the tourism infrastructure in the State, as the tourism sector is one of the major revenue earners for the hilly Northeast Indian state.
A few dys back, in order to develop the Umiam Lake, several top officials of the Government, including Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma visited the area on August 17 and inspected the zone for the implementation of infrastructure which is expected to be a shot in the arm to the tourism industry in the ‘land of clouds’.
The Meghalaya Chief Minister took to Twitter to announce the Government’s plans to further develop the area as popular tourist destination by adding a rope way, restaurants and stalls.
Taking to Twitter, Sangma wrote, “Inspected the site for creating new tourism infrastructure at Umiam Lake view point, which includes rope way, restaurants and stalls for vendors.”
