Demanding apology, the SOC also threatened to pursue the matter according to the law if Nongbri failed to oblige at the earliest.
According to a press statement from SPC here, Meban Kharmalki, a video journalist for the T7 news channel, went to Len Mawtap village in the Sohiong constituency on Saturday to cover a public meeting. When the journalist tried to ask some questions, Nongbri allegedly bullied, assaulted, threatened and harassed him.
Kharmalki was "shocked and shaken" by the incident, the release added.
A public meeting was held where people opposed the development of a public ground under the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKY) scheme, at a cost Rs 22.50 lakh.
Residents are opposed to the construction work because the block development office provided no clarification or clarity regarding the scheme.
