Keeping with the hospitable nature of the Northeast Indian region, Indian President Ramnath Kovind, was accorded a special welcome in Meghalaya during his very first visit.
Welcoming the President, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma write on Twitter, "I welcome the Hon'ble " data-mentioned-user-id="885487044243238912">@rashtrapatibhvn of our country on his first visit to our State. May the home of clouds make you feel at home. Your visit will be of immense inspiration to our people. Welcome to Meghalaya Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji."
After the two had held discussions, Sangma stated that "it was certainly meaningful for me to have an enriching conversation with the Hon’ble President."
Ram Nath Kovind is on a three-day tour to the North East and visited Sikkim on Saturday and his tour has now taken him to the ‘land of clouds’ Meghalaya, on Monday.
On November 4, the Indian President will grace the 26th convocation of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Shillong, which is one of the renowned institutes of higher-learning in the region.
This is President Kovind's maiden visit to Meghalaya since his appointment as the President of India.
