Meghalaya’s Celine Lawai, a wheelchair-bound girl has received the National Award 2019 for Empowerment of Person with Disability at New Delhi on Tuesday.
Celine Lawai received the award from Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu.

Expressing greeting to Celine Lawai, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma took to his official Instagram and posted a picture of Lawai holding the award. Conrad Sangma captioned it, “Meet Celine Lawai, a Data Entry Operator of Mawpat C&RD Block who is the proud recipient of the #NationalAward2019 for the #EmpowermentOfPersonsWithDisabilities (Divyangjan). Lawai works as a Data Entry Operator in Mawpat C&RD Block. She is the general secretary of the Association of Challenged People, Meghalaya.
