AIZAWL: The Mizoram Government has extended state-wide lockdown for 10 more days till June 30 yesterday.

The state is in lockdown currently, which will stay in force till June 21, though in the view of livelihood affected by the lockdown the state Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department has decided to lift certain restrictions in order to ease the hardship faced by the general public.

For Outside Municipal area - Govt. offices, Banks, and other functionaries are allowed to operate, but Covid Appropriate Behaviour must be strictly followed.

All places of worship, educational institutions, public parks, picnic spots, movie theatres, gymnasiums, community halls, restaurants, shopping complexes, football, and futsal ground, and malls will continue to remain close.

For Municipal areas - Shops dealing with construction materials, electronic supply, Computer, and Mobile sales and services will be opened on Friday between 5 am and 5 pm. While Shops dealing with student's books, Motor spare parts, workshop/puncture works will be opened on Tuesday between 5 am and 5 pm.

For Municipal areas - Vegetable market and Meat shops will be opened on Friday between 5 am and 5 pm.

Shops dealing with essential commodities in the AMC area will be allowed to open every morning till 8:00 a.m, Shops will be separated into groups and can only be opened on alternate days and will be monitored by local authorities.

Shops dealing with agricultural seeds and equipment will be allowed to open every between 5 am and 5 pm.

Intra-state or inter-village movement is strictly prohibited except under medical emergencies and exceptional cases.

The new order mentions that people living in the same building or colony should not visit each other as the Medical Operation Team survey has found out that 85% percent of the virus spread in the state are in these areas where different families living in the same building or colony had been visiting each other without even wearing a mask.

The Mizo's has the custom of paying visits and sharing food with their neighbors as goodwill not just in times of need but as a practice. But in this pandemic, this practice of sharing food with neighbors or colonies leads to a high percentage of the spread of the virus

The state registered new 314 Covid-19 cases on Saturday. A 64 years old lady succumbs to the deadly virus this morning at 3:30 which counts the state death toll to 76. Mizoram has 3816 active cases including the latest 314. The total recorded cases rose to 16750. The recovered people from covid-19 on Saturday stand at 12858.
