AIZAWL: Amid Covid-19 pandemic, the Library & Documentation Sub-Committee of Ramhlun South Branch YMA in Aizawl started a project that would help to keep people’s mind occupied and make use of their free time.
The project, called “Kawtkai Library Version 1.0 ” (An open Library for book lovers) was set up with the aim to usefully make up for free time during the Covid-19 lockdown, and the best part was that they delivered the books at the doorstep of whoever wanted to read it.
With over 4300 books in their library, the project of Ramhlun South YMA gained momentum since they started it on 18th April 2020.
The collection of books ranges from Mizo Fiction, Mizo history, translation of English fictions, English fiction and English Autobiography.
This morning, they have inaugurated a new library named Kawtkai Library Version 2.0. This time, book lovers can come and pick up their own books since lockdown has been lifted.
B. Lalmalsawma, Chairman of the Library & Documentation Sub-Committee said that this year, they have constructed a book shelf in a public place of their locality where people, especially the youths would gather and hang out. Here, they will simply take the book that they want to read, and return after they are done reading it-all free of cost.
