AIZAWL: At least 63 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Mizoram over the past 24 hours, pushing the state’s tally to 5,283.
As many as 52 fresh cases were reported from Aizawl, seven from Lawngtlai and two cases each from Lunglei and Champhai districts.
While nine newly infected patients have a travel history, 54 cases were detected during contract tracing.
The hill state now has an active caseload of 644 while 4,627 people have recuperated from the disease so far.

On the other hand, 12 deaths have been recorded in the state so far.
Mizoram has so far tested 2,87,694 samples for COVID-19, including 1,992 yesterday.
A many as 1,62,463 people, including 39,906 senior citizens have been administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine while 40,512 have received both doses of the vaccine till now.
