AIZAWL: Mizoram in the past 24 hours reported the highest single-day spike of 296 COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally to 9,740.
Of the total new cases, the Aizawl district reported the highest cases at 1776 active cases, followed by Kolasib and Serchhip districts, which reported 153 and 89 cases respectively.
The remaining cases were reported from other districts Lunglei, Saitual, Siaha, Lawngtlai and Khawzawl districts.
A 1-3 months old infant is among the new positive cases.
The COVID-19 death toll in the state rose up to 30.

According to the official, at least 4741 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and 6.24 per cent of them turned out positive for COVID-19.
Mizoram now has 2,303 active COVID-19 cases, while 7,407 people have recovered from the infection so far.
Meanwhile, a total of 2,96,503 people have been vaccinated of which 51,956 people have received both doses of the vaccine till Thursday.
