AIZWAL: The Mizoram government on Monday decided to slash the admission fees of Class 11 by 30 percent for all schools run by the state.

The announcement was made by the state education Minister Lalchhandama Ralte who said that decision was taken in view of the difficulties faced by the parents and students due to the pandemic.

"The state government has decided to reduce admission fees for Class 11 students, seeking admission in government higher secondary schools, Adhoc aided higher secondary schools, lump-sum aided higher secondary schools and deficit higher secondary schools, which receive regular grants from the government," the minister said.

The Minister further urged all the private schools to reduce the fees as well considering the current situation.

Ralte also requested parents to opt for government schools for their children which are managed by qualified teachers and also no tuition fee is charged.

The government’s decision to reduce the fees was lauded by several student bodies and organizations, including the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA).

The state board declared the 10th board results on June 3.
