Stoking the fires of controversy yet again, Tripura's Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday claimed that the Mughals intended to destroy the cultural wonders of Tripura by “bombing them”, The Indian Express reports.
At an event in the state capital Tripura, Biplab said that Tripura has enough wonders still unknown to people, the Mughals intended to destroy the culture of Tripura by bombing its arts and architectures.
At the same event, Biplab further said that Tripura will be popular all over the world if people promote the tourist spots in the Northeastern state.
It may be mentioned here that Deb has often landed in the soup for making controversial statements in the public arena.
Last year, he had compared communists to Mughals and the British rulers, accusing them of unsuccessfully trying to destroy Indian culture.
Moreover, he told a crowd at a rally that the internet and satellites had existed in India since the times of the Mahabharata.
