MUMBAI: Dharavi in Mumbai recorded zero COVID cases on Monday for the first time, according to the the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

Dharavi has recorded 6,861 cases thus far, 13 of which are active cases.

During the second wave, Dharavi recorded the highest-ever single-day surge of 99 cases on April 8.

Since May 31, Dharavi has seen a daily tally of one to three coronavirus cases.

In December 25, 2020, Dharavi a Covid-19 hotspot in the first wave reported zero positive cases for the first time. Following then, the slum belt's daily case count decreased with Dharavi recording zero cases for the last time before the second wave hit on February 2, 2021.

The COVID-19 cases toll in Mumbai increased by 700 on Sunday to 7,16,579, with 19 deaths bringing the total to 15,183, according to an official.

Meanwhile, the number of new COVID cases in Delhi has dropped to 131, the lowest level since February 22.

In the previous 24 hours, 16 people have died in Delhi. The percentage of people who are optimistic has plummeted to 0.22 percent.
