Nagaland Closes Civil Secretariat to Visitors amid Coronavirus Scarenagaland

Guwahati, March 20, 2020:

Nagaland Government, taking cognizance of the threat posed by the outbreak of the pandemic coronavirus (COVID-19) that has left over 10,000 dead across the world, has barred visitors from entering the Civil Secretariat in Kohima.

Informing this via a Nagaland government has barred visitors from entering the Nagaland Civil Secretariat with immediate effect till further orders. However, this order will not apply to officials and staffs of the Nagaland Civil Secretariat. Meanwhile, only visitors with genuine office related work will be allowed to enter the IPR Citadel in Kohima from March 20 onwards during visiting hrs (11:00 am to 2:00 pm).

It is pertinent to mention here that the Government of Nagaland has decided to close down all educational institutions in the State from March 17 to April 12. Moreover, the State has also imposed an indefinite blanket ban on tourists. The ban will be imposed from March 18 onwards.

In a latest notification issued by Abhijit Sinha, Principal Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, it has been informed that the issuance of new/fresh Inner Line Permit (ILP) for both domestic and foreign tourists and all other categories shall remain suspended with immediate effect until further orders.

Moreover, the entry of any foreign or domestic tourist shall remain barred in the State of Nagaland with immediate effect until further orders. This was decided in a high level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
