Nagaland CM Assigns Legislators in 9 Districts to Ensure Implementation of Corona Measures

Kohima, March 26, 2020:

Keeping the current coronavirus or COVID-19 crisis in view, Nagaland has assigned its legislators in nine districts in order to monitor the implementation of the effective preventive measures.

A notification released by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio's Office, covered nine districts of the State and assigned one Minister and an Advisory each.

For Kohima, Nagaland Housing Minister, Tongpang Ozukum and Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Advisor, Neikeisalie Nicky Kire have been assigned. The two will be working together and monitoring the workflow or implementation of all the preventive steps issued by the Nagaland Government.

Similarly, for Dimapur, Public Health Engineering Minister Jacob Zhimomi and Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio have been assigned.

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton and Horticulture & Border Affairs Advisor, Mhathung Yanthan will be looking into the matters of Wokha.

Zunheboto district has been assigned to Agriculture Minister G Kaito Aye and Tourism & Art & Culture Advisor, Khehovi Yepthomi.

Nagaland Forest Minister CM Chang and Prisons & Printing & Stationary Advisor have been assigned with the work in Tuensang district.

Planning & Coordination Minister, Neiba Kromu and CAWD, NSDMA Advisor, Kazheto Kinimi are assigned with Phek district.

Longleng district will have Health & Family Welfare Minister, S Pangnyu Phom and I&C, L&E, SD&E Advisor, Imnatiba.

Transport Minister P Paiwang Konyak and Fire & Emergency Services Advisor, Pohwang will be looking into Mon district's affairs.

Peren district will have Higher & Technical Education Minister Temjen Imna Along and Advisor of Irrigation & Flood Control Advisor Namri Nechang.

It may be mentioned here that coronavirus or COVID-19 has spread to 192 countries across the world, with the highest number of cases in Italy and USA after China. While China, the place of the virus' origin has reported 67 new cases, USA has reported 278 new cases. Italy did not report any new case of COVID-19.

In India, 678 people have been infected with the virrus. According to Worldometers, India has reported 21 new COVID-19 cases with one fresh fatality. A total of 43 people have recovered so far.

In the Northeastern part of the country, two cases, one each from Manipur and Mizoram have been reported. Both these cases are have travel histories. Nagaland is moving ahead with all possible measures to prevent the virus. The Nagaland Government has therefore assigned Government officials to ensure the implementation of the same in all the distrcts.

The central Government has issued 15,000 crore package to Nagaland to deal with the COVID-19 phase. For the 21-day lockdown, Nagaland Government has advised the public to cooperate and abide by the containment orders issued by the Government.

“People should remain indoors, not socialise and come out only if is unavoidable for buying essential goods. At shops one should maintain social distancing,” the Home department advised in a communique.

Further from one family, only one person should come out for shopping purposes and should try to shop only from the shops closest to his or her house.

Informing that the District administration and police are regularly monitoring the situation, the Home Department warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found indulging in non-essential travel.
