All the agencies engaged in farming and agriculture related activities in Dimapur, Nagaland have been exempted from the lockdown that is imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Anoop Khinchi has issued an order citing the exemption, bringing the relief for farmers and others involved in agricultural activities in Dimapur.
"This is for the information of all concerned under Dimpaur District that all algencies engaged in farming operations and other agriculture related activities are exempted from the lockdown vide Order No. CSO/GAB-1/COM/GEN-1/2020," stated the circular, adding, "Therefore, movement of farmers and other persons involved in agriculture activities should not be restricted in the Colonies/Villages."

It may be mentioned here that on Tuesday, the Nagaland Government Spokesperson and planning and coordination Minister Neiba Kronu had announced that the farming operations have been exempted from the lockdown provisions.
“This being the sowing season, our farmers may hence, as per the need, come out of their homes, go to the fields and carry out all the essential farming activities, while maintaining social distancing,” Kronu had said while briefing on the COVID-19 situation in Nagaland.
Following the decision, farmers came out with their local produce - organic fruits and vegetables in the marketplace for the buyers. The decision has helped the farmers cope with the lockdown as the move has made the essentials accessible at the local level.
Nagaland Update:
Nagaland has not yet reported any positive COVID-19 case. However, the State has prepared to combat the virus in case of an outbreak.
