The Governor of Nagaland, Shri PB Acharya on the occasion World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) called on the people of the State to thank voluntary blood donors for their life saving gift of blood. He stated that that every year 14th June is observed to raise awareness on the need for regular blood donation to ensure the quality, safety and availability of blood for patients in need.
We don't just need to give blood in the event of tragedies or emergencies. Instead, it should be a normal and routine part of our lives, Governor Acharya stated. The Governor also called on the University youth, NGOs, Civil Organisation, Scout and Guides, Ex Servicemen, etc to organize blood donation camps on different occasions. “It is a healthy gesture. We must keep this aptitude up at any cost. Our blood banks are running short of required blood. By organizing such blood donation camps we may help them to enrich their capacity and save precious human lives”, he said.
Stating that blood donation is our human duty, Governor Acharya called on the citizens to come forward and donate blood as it is one of the most significant contributions that a human being can make towards the society.
