KOHIMA: The Government of Nagaland has announced today that they will be posting 56 medical officers within 48 hours to various Health Care Centres in the State.
The announcement came from state Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom, who has posted on his Twitter, “the Department will be posting another 56 young, energetic and dedicated Medical Officers within 48 hrs to various Health Care Centres in the State to cater to the needs of the people during these challenging times.”
Phom added further, “We ensure all possible help we can and appeal to the people to co-operate with the Government and Department.”

The High Powered Committee on COVID-19 after its emergency meeting on May 19, 2021, informed that 56 doctors have been recently recruited. The resultant vacancies of doctors and nurses under NHM caused due to this recruitment will be filled up by engaging suitable professionals on a temporary basis.
The Nagaland government has also announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh already for all health care workers working in Government Hospitals and Health Care Centers and private hospitals over and above the Rs. 50 lakh under the Government of India’s Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP) Insurance Scheme for health workers fighting COVID-19.
It was also directed earlier by the Principal Director of H&FW to recruit final year and intern students of various medical professions on a temporary basis for clinical and non-clinical Non-COVID duties.
