DIMAPUR: Dr. P S Lorin, founder and Principal Emeritus of the Tetso College passed away this morning in Dimapur.
The highly-respected P S Lorin was the founding member and the first convenor of the Naga People's Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) and a member of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR).
He was also once the president of the Delhi chapter of the Naga Students' Union (NSU).
The NSU-Delhi, issuing a release, wrote: "We pay our homage to an eminent scholar, educationist and peace activist who stood for truth and just peace. The Naga society will remember his immense contribution in the field of education, peace building and social reformation."
Condolences have started pouring in and prominent organizations have paid their rich tributes to Lorin after his passing away.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that he was not only a par-excellence educationist but also a social activist, who had sincere concerns for the welfare of Naga society.
"Although he had a long list of academic achievements to his name, he was always humble, kind, selfless and a true gentleman. His contribution to the society is immense," Rio added.
"In his death, Naga society has lost a fatherly figure, a mentor, guide and a true son of the soil. The vacuum created will be difficult to fill. It would be befitting that we continue the legacy of public service that he has left behind so that he will continue to live among us. My family joins me in conveying our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. We pray that Almighty God will give them strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss," he added.
In a statement, the Naga Hoho said, "Dr. Lorin was a distinguished Educationist and a humble soul dedicated to the Just cause of the Naga people. His dedication and contribution towards the unity of Naga society as a mentor and a friend will always be remembered. Nagas have lost a very prominent personality and a great soul. The vacuum created by him will be irreparable."
