Nagaland sees spike in COVID-19 cases, state tally soar to 193

The COVID-19 positive cases in Nagaland shot up to 193 with the detection of 14 cases on June 17th, 2020, principal secretary (home) Abhijit Sinha said.

In his briefing, Sinha said out the total active cases in the state are 90 while 103 have recovered.

All the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 hospitals. As per the severity of symptoms, all the 90 active cases are asymptomatic, he said.

Out of the 193 positive cases, four are in the age group of 0 to 17 years, 182 cases between 18-44 years, five cases between 45-64 years and two cases between 65-74 years. The number of males is 124 and females 69.

Sinha said altogether 7,202 samples have been tested in the state till Wednesday. The results of 6174 samples have been received and the results of 1028 samples are awaited.

Altogether 7,883 persons are presently under facility quarantine, he added.

The government requested all the people in the state in age group of 16 years and above, including frontline workers, to participate in the online survey conducted by the health and family welfare department to assess their mental health status during the Covid-19 pandemic.

India cases so far

India has crossed 2 lakh-mark in terms of corona positives on June 3rd. As on June 17th, the country currently has 366K confirmed COVID-19 cases, 160384 active cases with 194325 cured and discharged. The total number of deaths is 12237.

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 3 thousand deaths. It has recorded 116752 corona cases with 59166 cured, 5651 deaths, and 51935 active cases. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has corona 47102 cases with 17457 cured, 1904 deaths, and 27741 active cases. Tamil Nadu has 50193 positive cases with 27624 cured, 576 deaths 21993 active cases. Gujarat with 25093 COVID-19 cases, so far, has 17430 have been cured, 1560 deaths, and 6103 active cases.
