In another crackdown against the illegal drugs trade in the state, the Assam Rifles on Monday seized a huge consignment of narcotics in Manipur.
Alertness of the troops of Assam Rifles under the IGAR (South) headquaters was evident again when they recovered 1 lakh WIY (or YaBa) tablets worth Rs 3 crores from an individual travelling in a vehicle from Moreh to Imphal.
The individual and the recovered items were handed over to the police officials for further investigation.

Last week, in a similar incident, a large consignment of narcotics was found in Tengnoupal district of Manipur. On November 12, at around 8 pm, the Moreh Police in Manipur received a specific information that a large quantity of narcotic drugs/psychotropic substances was being kept concealed in a house at New Moreh, Ward No. 9.
A team of Tengnoupal district police comprising of Addl.SP/Tengnoupal, SDPO/ Moreh and Moreh Police Station Team under the supervision of Th. Vikramijit Singh, SP/Tengnoupal along with executive magistrate, sDO/ Moreh rushed to the particular house. During the house search, 34 carton boxes containing narcotics were found in a room.
