BENGALURU: Sanchari Vijay, a Kannada actor who met with a car accident on June 12 was confirmed brain dead at the Apollo Hospital in Bengaluru on Monday evening.
He was 38 years old at the time. He had been admitted to the Apollo Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Bengaluru, where he was being treated.
In view of the actor's incurable brain impairment, his family has decided to donate his organs.

On Monday evening, the Apollo Hospital in Bengaluru issued a statement declaring the actor brain dead and stating that transplant procedures would be carried out soon: "Mr Vijay's apnea tests were performed today at 12:25 p.m. and 7:50 p.m., and they came back positive. This indicates his brain has been irreversibly damaged and he is brain dead... the next stage is organ retrieval and transplant procedures."
On Monday afternoon, actor Kichcha Sudeepa shared the news of Sanchari Vijay's death on social media and he tweeted,“Very very disheartening to accept that Sanchari Vijay breathed his last. Met him couple of times just bfr this lockdown,,,, all excited about his nxt film,, tats due for release. Very sad. Deepest Condolences to his family and friends. RIP.”
Sanchari Vijay made his acting debut in the 2011 film Rangappa Hogbitna.
He has acted in a number of Kannada movies including Dasavala, Harivu, Oggarane, Killing Veerappan, Varthamana and Sipaayi. With the film Naanu Avanalla Avalu, he gained notoriety and won his first National Award.
