GUWAHATI: To mark April 1 which is observed as April fool's day worldwide, in India, critics found a new way to mock the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government and started trending 'National Jumla Day' on social media, especially on Twitter.

Under the hashtag National Jumla Day, thousands upon thousands of memes poured out against the BJP government targetting their allegedly failed policies starting from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's claim to deposit Rs 15 lakhs in everyone's account to falling rates of GDP, women safety, privatization of institutions, etc.

"Achhe Din, GDP growth, irrigation to every farm, double the incomes of farmers, women's safety, relief from corruption. Above are the Jumlas of Modi Govt. Let's celebrate 1st April as National Jumla Day," posted Kisan Ekta Morcha from its official Twitter handle.

Gaurav Pandhi, national coordinator,  and Srivatsa, National campaign in-charge, from Indian National Congress also came out in support of this hashtag and took a jibe at Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's recent announcement on interest rates of small savings to be continued with the pre-existed in the last quarter of 2020-21. FM Sitharaman also stated in a tweet that orders issued by oversight will be withdrawn as well.

Before this trend, the opposition had chosen to celebrate Narendra Modi's birthday on September 17 as 'National Unemployment Day."
