North East Hill University (NEHU) associate professor and head of the department of Bio-medical engineering, Dinesh Bhatia has been arrested by CBI for taking bribe on Friday.
Reportedly, the professor was arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act for taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 in cash from a complainant pursuing his PhD under him.
The bribe money was part of the proceeds of fake bills sanctioned by professor Bhatia which were transferred to the bank account of the complainant and under the instructions of Bhatia, the complainant had withdrawn the cash. While handing over the money, the accused was caugh by the CBI officers.
