IMPHAL: Food and beverage giant Nestle India today apologised for the “factual error” on the wrapper of one of its chocolate brands saying Keibul Lamjao National Park is in Meghalaya.
Nestle India also announced two new packs to celebrate the lovely places in northeast India.
"While we stay at home, the KitKat travel break packs were aimed at bringing a smile in these tough times by celebrating beautiful locations. We got it wrong with the location of one of the packs celebrating wildlife and we sincerely apologise for this unintentional error," a spokesperson of Nestle India said.
The spokesperson further said: "We are launching two new packs as soon as possible to bring to light the beauty of these destinations. These packs celebrate Keibul Lamjao National Park, Manipur and Balpakram National Park, Meghalaya."
The forest department of Manipur yesterday wrote a letter to Nestle India over the “factual error” on the wrapper of KitKat.
The department had pointed out that the Keibul Lamjao National Park is actually located at Moirang in Manipur.

The department also pointed out that the picture displayed over the words “Keibul Lamjao National Park” is of a Red Panda, a species which is not found in the park.
The Keibul Lamjao National Park is the Bishnupur district of Manipur. It is the only floating park in the world and an integral part of the famous Loktak Lake.
The red panda is a carnivoran native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China.
