Northeast Indian Leaders Pay Their Last Respects to Sushma Swaraj

Guwahati, August 7, 2019:

Northeast Indian leaders have paid their last respects to senior BJP leader and former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who passed away yesterday of a heart attack.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu paid his tribute and said that he was "deeply saddened and shocked by the news of untimely demise" of the former Union Minister".

Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma also paid his deep respects to the senior BJP leader. "I am shocked to hear that former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj ji passed away. I express my condolence to the bereaved family members and pray to almighty to grant her eternal peace. She will be missed and remembered by the people of India and leaders from across party lines", he expressed on Twitter.

 

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid his tribute via social media platforms, where he wrote "An epitome of integrity, efficiency and enormous commitment to work,

Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju took to Twitter to express his grief. "My heart is broken. I can't believe Sushma Swaraj ji has left us so soon. I learnt from her the sense of humility, kindness and benignity. She will live in my thought forever. My heartfelt tributes to her and extend my condolences to her bereaved family", he wrote.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio sais that Swaraj "will be remembered for her human approach to diplomacy & accessibility."

 

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, "Deeply saddened at the untimely demise of Sushma Swaraj ji, former External Affairs Minister & one of India's most beloved & tallest leaders."
