NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said sanitary pads will be available for women at Rs 2.5 as part of the Janaushadhi Pariyojana scheme.
This was said by PM Modi while interacting with the beneficiaries of 'Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana’ scheme while addressing Janaushadhi Diwas celebrations today.
He also dedicated the 7500th Janaushadhi Kendra at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong.
PM Modi further said, “medicines are expensive, that's why we have PM 'Janaushadhi ' yojana for the poor which helps in saving their money.

"For low and middle-income families, the PM Janaushadhi Pariyojana is being run across the country. This yojana is a medium for 'seva and rozgar,' as it also provides youth with job opportunities.
Moreover, a decision has been made to make 75 Ayush medicines available throughout the country's Janaushadhi centres.
The scheme’s initiative endeavours to provide quality medicines at an affordable price, adding the number of stores under the scheme has grown to 7,499 covering all districts of the country.
Since these medicines are 50% to 90% cheaper than retail prices, sales in the financial year 2020-21 (up to March 4, 2021) resulted in gross savings of approximately Rs. 3600 crore for common citizens.
To raise awareness about Janaushadhi, the entire week of March 1-7 is being celebrated as “Janaushadhi Week” across the country, with the theme “Jan Aushadhi – Seva bhi, Rozgar bhi.”
