KOHIMA: The opposition Naga People's Front (NPF) has underlined its commitment to “vigorously” pursue several matters presented with the Governor of Nagaland by the party's legislative wing against the current NDPP-led-PDA government's alleged rampant corruption.
The NPF yesterday held a consultative meeting of the party’s core committee at central office Kohima with the party's parliamentary wing which was deliberated on several concerns confronting the Nagas.
According to the NPF, the consultative meeting confirmed that the party's legislative arm would participate in the recently formed core committee on Naga Political Issues if it limited its role to that of an active facilitator.
NPF-PAM, on the other hand, will continue to exist, according to the party.
The meeting reaffirmed, according to the press office, that because the Naga issue is a political matter recognised by the Indian government, it must be resolved politically by demonstrating political will.
Minister Temjen Imna Along's statement, "the settlement of the Naga policy matter should be within the constitution of India," according to the NPF, was completely at odds with the spirit of the ongoing peace talks. According to the opposition NPF, such individual opinions should not obstruct the path to a just solution.
