IMPHAL: Vivek Raj Wangkhem, a former MLA from Manipur and the national general secretary of the National People’s Party (NPP), died of COVID-19 in Delhi on Monday.
According to the sources, Wangkhem tested positive for COVID-19 a week ago and was being treated at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Hospital in Delhi.

He died of cardiac arrest on Monday morning as a result of COVID-19 complications.
Wangkhem is survived by his two children and wife.
Conrad K Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya and the leader of the National People's Party (NPP), expressed the pained on Twitter and wrote: “Pained by the demise of Sh. Vivek Raj Wangkhem, former Manipur MLA & National General Secretary of NPP who lost the battle to Covid. We have lost a dear friend & a committed party leader. My deepest condolences to his family, friends & admirers. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
