KOLKATA: Nusrat Jahan, Bengali actress turned Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament (MP) welcomed her first child, a baby boy today in a Kolkata hospital.
Both the newborn baby and the newborn mother are doing fine.
Nusrat was admitted to Neotia Hospital in the city this morning.
According to reports at the time of her delivery today, Bengali actor Yash Dasgupta was by Nusrat’s side at the hospital.
Nusrat Jahan and businessman Nikhil Jain tied the knot in Turkey in a private wedding ceremony on June 19, 2019, after dating for a while.

However, reports of trouble in Nusrat and Nikhil's marriage began to circulate within months of their wedding.
She was later linked to her 'SOS Kolkata' co-star Yash Dasgupta.
Later, to put an end to all speculations, the actress issued a statement to the media claiming that her marriage to businessman Nikhil Jain is illegal in India.
"As per Turkish Marriage Regulation, the ceremony is invalid because it is taking place on foreign soil. It was an interfaith marriage, which requires validation under India's Special Marriage Act, which did not occur. 'According to the law, it is not marriage but a relationship or a live-in relationship,' she says in her statement.
She also claimed that Nikhil's family 'illegally held back' her belongings, such as family jewellery and other assets.
When Nusrat was later asked to comment on rumours about her alleged relationship with Yash, she said, "People have always put me on trial."
"But this time I'm not going to say anything. People can only judge me based on my work as an actor and nothing else. Whether it's good, bad, or ugly, it's my personal life, and I am not going to share it with anyone," she added.
Since November 2020, Nusrat and Nikhil have been separated.
