ONE LAKH FAMILIES ENROLLED UNDER CMHT SO FAR: MANIPUR CM

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has said that around one lakh families have been enrolled under Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) so far while attending a function organised at Classic Hotel to celebrate the successful implementation of CMHT at SKY Hospital, Imphal on Friday.
Sigh said that CMHT was an outcome of his constant interactions with different sections of the people during his 15 years of public life. It has been his dream to introduce a scheme which would help needy people to receive quality medical treatment, he added.
It took around six months to conceive the scheme, Singh said while expressing pleasure that the scheme had started serving its intended purpose. He said that soon after its launch, the Indian Express Group selected CMHT for the award of Most Efficiently-Run Health Programme by a State Government.
Observing that people who fear to take risk would never succeed in life, the Chief Minister said that the State Government also faced risky situations before the launch of the scheme. Stating that people who are in politics should work with an objective to serve the needy people, the Chief Minister said that the new Government is working hard day and night to bring welfare for the masses.
Speaking at the occasion, Health Minister L. Jayantakumar announced that Flying Doctors (air ambulance service) would become a reality soon. Stating that construction of helipads in different districts for the project would begin soon, the Minister informed that DoNER Ministry had agreed to provide some financial assistance for the construction of helipads.
Jayantakumar said that the State Government thought that the Right to Life of people should not be compromised with the weak financial position of the State, he added.
It may be mentioned that SKY Hospital is the first hospital in the State which started free treatment for various heart patients under CMHT. 36 patients had been given treatment under the scheme in the private hospital.
