A total of 10.3 kilos of opium has been seized in Manipur’s Churachandpur district yesterday.
Acting on specific input about buying and selling of suspected contraband, members of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), along with a team of BSF-G, raided two houses in Manipur’s Patlien village. The houses belonged to Thongkholun Haokip and Joseph Hlanghal, respectively.
The two accused have been apprehended under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psycotropic Substances Act, 1085.
Investigations are still on to determine the source of the drugs.
It is to be mentioned that in another recent opium-related incident in the district, a team of Churachandpur police, 25 Assam Rifles, Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and Narcotics Control Bureau (ncb) had destroyed opium plantation field of 51 acres in total area.
