NEW DELHI: India in the past 24 hours reported over 3.82 lakh new positive cases of COVID-19 and as many as 3,780 people succumbed to the virus.
With the fresh cases, India's total caseload of positive cases reached 2.6 crores, while the new fatalities pushed the death toll to 2,26,188.
Since last year, Maharashtra has been the worst-affected state, with 51,880 new cases reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall caseload to over 48.22 lakh.

Currently, India has now more than 34.87 lakh active cases.
Among the total new fatalities, Maharashtra had over 900 deaths, while Delhi and Uttar Pradesh had 338 and 351, respectively. More than 100 people are dying every day in at least 13 states.
Meanwhile, according to reports, Delhi reported 338 COVID-19 deaths and 19,953 cases in a single day, with a positivity rate of 26.73 %.
India is also experiencing a severe oxygen shortage, with several hospitals in various parts of the country running out of supplies.
Many COVID-19 patients have died as a result of medical oxygen shortages in hospitals.
