PM Modi receives 2nd dose of COVAXIN

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received his second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine today at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

PM Modi took to Twitter to share a photo of himself receiving the second dose of the vaccine, urging everyone eligible to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

“Got my second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS today. Vaccination is among the few ways we have, to defeat the virus. If you are eligible for the vaccine, get your shot soon. Register on http://CoWin.gov.in,” he tweeted.

PM Modi was given the second dose of the vaccine by two nurses P Niveda from Puducherry and Nisha Sharma from Punjab.

The prime minister took the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on March 1.

With a new wave of coronavirus causing a sense of urgency in India's vaccination campaign, the Centre announced on April 11 that shots could be administered at workplaces with up to 100 eligible recipients.

Currently, the vaccination is only available to those over the age of 45.

According to the health ministry over 8.83 crores, Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country till date.

Reports suggests, 89,65,839 doses were given to healthcare workers (HCWs) who received the first dose, and 54,04,837 doses were given to HCWs who received the second dose, for a total of 8,83,72,277 doses.

The first dose was given to 97,40,281 frontline workers (FLWs), and the second dose was given to 43,35,473 FLWs.

2,26,42,318 jabs were given to those aged 45 to 59 (first dose), 4,47,060 to those aged 45 to 59 (second dose), 3,57,78,684 to those aged 60 and up (first dose), and 10,57,785 to those aged 60 and up (second dose) (second dose).
