GUWAHATI: Continuing with its crackdown on drug smugglers, Tripura Police has arrested a woman for being involved in smuggling of narcotics.
The woman, identified as Uma Malakar, was arrested from her residence in West Champamura late on Tuesday night.
The accused was arrested based on the information provided by drug kingpin Nahid Miah, who was arrested earlier.
A huge quantity of drugs and cash were recovered from the residence of Malakar. The recovery includes 120 gram of brown sugar, 200 brown sugar stuffed vials and 1,000 empty vials besides Rs 1.84 lakh in cash.
It needs mention that one of the biggest suppliers of drugs in Agartala, Nahid Miah was arrested a couple of days ago from the city. Miah is suspected to have links with drug smugglers in Meghalaya, Manipur and even neighbouring Bangladesh.

Police has also arrested scores of drug peddlers from across the state and contraband items worth more than a crore in recent time.
Tripura shares 856km international border with Bangladesh and large parts of Moulvibazar, Rangamati and Khagrachari districts are situated along the border. Narcotics and other contraband items are often smuggled to India through these porous borders.
