'Pratigya' actor Anupam Shyam passes away

MUMBAI: Veteran actor Anupam Shyam (63), who is best known as 'Thakur Sajjan Singh' in the television world for his hit show "Mann Kee Awaaz: Pratigya" passed away due to multiple organ failure today.

The veteran actor was admitted to Lifeline hospital in suburban Goregaon following a kidney infection last week, said his friend actor Yashpal Sharma

Shyam breathed his last at the hospital in the presence of his two brothers, Anurag and Kanchan.

His body will be taken to his residence, New Dindoshi, MHADA colony, and the funeral will take place later in the day.

The 63-year-old actor also appeared in films like "Slumdog Millionaire" and "Bandit Queen", "Satya", "Dil Se", "Lagaan", "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi".

Shyam has received critical acclaim for his role as Thakur Sajjan Singh on the TV show"Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya" season-I which aired in 2009 on Star Plus.

The actor had recently resumed shooting for season II of his show "Mann Ki Awaaz: Pratigya".
