GUWAHATI: PV Sindhu the 26-year-old Indian seeded sixth wins the Women's Badminton Singles group match beating Israel's unseeded Ksenia Polikarpova today.

In a lopsided opening match, the 26-year-old defeated the 58th-ranked Polikarpova 21-7 21-10.

Sindhu scored 12 straight points to keep the lead to 17-5 before winning the first game 21-7.

In contrary to the first game, there was no issue getting started in the second, as the Indian won the first match in just 29 minutes.

Sindhu will next play Hong Kong's world number 34 Cheung Ngan Yi in the group stage on August 4.

Earlier on July 24, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty of India had a remarkable 21-16 16-21 27-25 victory over Yang Lee and Chi-Lin Wang of Chinese Taipei in their first Group Stage match.
