PV Sindhu's request for upgraded recovery equipment approved with 24 hours

NEW DELHI: PV Sindhu, the world champion and silver medalist at the 2016 Olympic Games, earned a boost on Friday when her request for upgraded recovery equipment was approved by the government within 24 hours.

Expressing her gratitude Sindhu said, "I am delighted that the Sports Authority of India approved my request for the recovery mechanism in less than a day."

After receiving the Administrative Sanction to purchase the Game Ready recovery system on Friday, Sindhu said, "I will be able to place an order and procure it in time to take it with me to the Olympic Games."

The device circulates ice water and provides intermittent compression to an athlete's legs, arms, back, and shoulders using customised wraps.

By chilling the damaged areas, it aids in the reduction of an athlete's pain, spasm, and swelling.

The compression helps to increase the flow of oxygenated blood in the body.

“As a portable cold and compression recovery system, it will benefit me greatly after each long training session or match,” PV Sindhu said of the machine, which is ranked better than traditional Rest-Ice-Compression-Elevation recovery methods.
