NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju have extended their warm greetings to the Delhi police on the occasion of its 74th Raising Day.
Home Minister Amit Shah took to the microblogging site Twitter where he wrote, “Heartfelt greetings to all personnel and their families of Delhi Police on its 74th foundation day . I salute the bravery, restraint and dedication of the brave personnel of the Delhi Police who, even under adverse circumstances, are completely committed to maintaining the security and stability of the country's capital.”

Minister Rijiju took to Twitter and wrote, “I extend warm greetings to the entire members of Delhi Police on it's Raising Day. I salute all the past and present personnel of @DelhiPolice for ensuring the safety and security of the people living in the National Capital.”
Delhi Police comes under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India. In 2015, sanctioned strength of Delhi Police was 84,536 (including I.R. Battalions), making it one of the largest metropolitan police forces in the world. About 25% of Delhi Police strength is earmarked for VIP security.
