Gangtok, February 10, 2020:

Tsomgo Lake and Nathula Indo China border, the renowned tourist destinations in Sikkim, will have another new feature in the form of a ropeway at the height of 12,900 feet at Tsomgo Lake. According to reports, the ropeway will elevate tourists to a height of 14,000 feet.

The ropeway was inaugurated last year in July, but due to the Doklam incident and Gorkhaland agitation, it was not made functional at the Tsomgo Lake area that receives 300 tourists daily. Now, after the inauguration of the ropeway, one will get a majestic view of Tsomgo Lake and the Himilayan Range.

The project of the 650 metre ropeway is being developed by Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim, and the construction has been executed by Conveyor and Ropeway service private Limited. The ropeway has 12 cabins and each cabin can carry six persons at a time.

"I want to appeal all the people of the Northeast from all age brackets to come here to Tsomgo as it truly is a paradise for tourists and is even more picturesque than Switzerland", said a tourist, appealing all brothers and sisters from NE to visit the Sikkim hotspot.

It may be mentioned here that Sikkim, a tiny Indian State located at the foot of the Himalayas, seen a large influx of tourists each year. Tourists enjoying a Yak ride, commonly found in the parts, is common sight.
