Shillong Police Arrests 4 Manipuris in Drug Peddling Case

Shillong, August 17, 2019:

Shillong Police, reportedly, arrested 4 individuals hailing from Manipur in a case of drug peddling. A special team of Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) raided Prakash Hotel in Laitumkhrah, Shillong where the 4 were staying.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Thangcha Khongsai, Kimboi Khongsai, T Lalcha Khongsai, Hauzakham Khongsai, and Lalhmingliana Khongsai.

According to reports, the police team raided the hotel room after they were informed of the suspected persons stay in the Laitumkhrah hotel. They arrested Thangcha Khongsai and Kimboi Khongsai with 12.97 gms of heroin. The duo accepted the fact they had come to Shillong with a huge drug deal.

The ANTF also raided the residence of T. Lalcha Khongsai in Madanriting area who accepted that he was part of the drug deal but recovered nothing. Further raiding led to the recovery heroin worth 227.56 gm from Lalhningliana Khongsai’s rented house.

The drug consignment was brought from Manipur to Shillong in Maruti 800 bearing registration number WB 90 7217. Shillong Police have seized the vehicle and further inquiry is on to ascertain the source of the drug network and to identify other drug dealers in the Meghalaya capital.
