
The court of Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate, Rongli was inaugurated on Monday at a ceremony held in the Sub-Division. The Chief Guest for the day was the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Mr. Pawan Chamling and the function also had Hon’ble Mr. Justice Satish Kumar Agnihotri, Chief Justice, High Court of Sikim; Hon’ble Mrs. Justice, Meenakshi Madan Rai, Judge, High Court of Sikkim; Hon’ble Mr. Justice, Bhaskar Raj Pradhan, Judge, High Court of Sikkim and the Guest of Honour was the Hon’ble Minister for Law, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Department, Government of Sikkim, Mr. R.B Subba. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Satish Kumar Agnihotri, Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim in his address talked about the strategic importance of Rongli.
He said that with the opening of the new court of Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate in this area, it will be convenient for the common people to now seek justice and judicial help. He stressed on the importance of law and said that justice should be prompt and fair and thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister for extending all help necessary in the completion of the said project.
Hon’ble Chief Minister, Mr. Pawan Chamling spoke on the geographical and historical importance of the location of Rongli and its close proximity to Bhutan and China. He also said about the transformation of the town and the developments that have taken place. He hoped that with the coming up of this court of Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate, justice would be delivered efficiently and right at their doorsteps. He urged the people to use their democratic right by approaching the court if and when necessary. He stressed that everyone should abide by the law and be responsible citizens and instil a sense of ownership and belonging. At the end he thanked all the people and hoped to work together selflessly in making the state better and secular.
