SIKKIM: CM PAWAN CHAMLING ATTENDS JAN SEWA, JAN SAMMAN ABHIYAN

Chief Minister Pawan Chamling attended the Jan Sewa, Jan Samman Abhiyan for Rangang Yangang and Lingmoo at Greenvale playground on Saturday. This occasion also marks the conclusion of the 32 days long Sikkim Jan Sewa, Jan Samman Abhiyan which is a unique mass outreach program undertaken by the State Government. The Chief Minister was accompanied by SLA Speaker Mr. K. N. Rai, Lok Sabha MP Mr. P.D. Rai, Cabinet Ministers and Chairman’s, Advisors, HoDs, Zilla members, Panchayats, Students and Public of the constituency at large.

It may be mentioned here that Sikkim Jan Sewa, Jan Samman Abhiyan which started from 2nd April from North District is aimed at understanding and addressing the grievances of the public at grass root level. It is also a phenomenal exercise of the State Government which intends to take stock of ground realities and addresses the issues at grassroot level alongside appraising the people on the policies, programs, welfare measures and other developmental activities.

Addressing, the gathering Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling spoke about the aim and objective of Jan Sewa, Jan Samman Abhiyan as a platform wherein the general public and the State Government can gauge the difficulties faced by the public at grass root level thereby providing an opportunity to develop new possibilities in a corporative and collaborative basis. He traced back the Jan Sampark Abhiyan which commenced from 2nd April onwards and how during that time the entire State Government machinery met and interacted with public to bring forth a variety of advancement.

Mr. Chamling deliberated that it is the virtue of the State Government to work with complete determination for the holistic upliftment of the general public. He also mentioned that the State Government has amplified its aims and objectives to the convenience of its citizens and created a roadmap in elevation of their socio - economic status. Some series of announcement made during the program by the Chief Minister where deliberation will be done at the earliest to transform the Sikkim State University as 'State Green University', Specialized subjects will be included in the curriculum at college level in order to skill the students according to the job changing demands of the global world. Free Education for Sikkimese students in state medical college at Sokethang, Gangtok. BPL Senior Citizens will be provided with hearing aid and dentures. Amendment in Succession Act, 2008 will be passed during the ensuing Assembly session. New Roads will be sanctioned in one month time. Jhora protection works will commence. Building of Church, Temples and Monasteries will be embarked upon at the earliest. DPR will be made depending on the primacy of the work. Qualitative implementation of work by the concerned stakeholders

The Chief Minister highlighted the diverse amalgamation of infrastructure expansion such as establishment of Sikkim University, road upgradation that has been brought about in Rangang- Yangang and lingmoo respectively. He also spoke in detail the comprehensive progress which the general public will gain after the building of Sikkim University and Skywalk Project at Bhaleydhunga in Yangang. The CM also emphasized that Yangang is one of the most developing constituency in Sikkim.

The CM implored that the citizens of Sikkim should reshape their thinking process as that of people living in the developed countries of the world. And this is possible through the accumulation of experience, formation of substantial priorities and dignity of labour. He also extolled that Sikkim is the only state in the country to be exempted from Income Tax.

The CM stated that the State Government has given special focus throughout the years in the education sector. Education in Sikkim is free up to the college level and efforts to improve educational standards in coverage and quality has been a consistent endeavour of the State Government. He also appraised the students to avail free technical education in institutions such as CCCT Chisopani, ATTC Bardang and also in various colleges located in the state.

The CM informed that the State Government has provided with free medical assistance to the public and advocated to utilize the CATCH-an annual health check up programme. He also recommended for the full utilization of cervical cancer vaccine for girl child between the age-group of 9-14. He shared his vision in transforming Sikkim into breast and cervical cancer free state. He exhorted the citizens to publicize the aim of the State Government to make Sikkim free of MDR-TB by the year 2022 and shared that a monthly grant of Rs 3,000 will be provided to every TB patient as nutritional support. He also updated that any medical patients belonging to BPL Category can avail Rs. 25 thousand travelling allowance outside siliguri and up till siliguri the allowance will be up to Rs. 15 thousand.

Speaking, regarding the organic farming scenario the CM enlightened that organic farming can provide a golden opportunity in terms of economic possibilities. The progressive farmers and entrepreneurs can sell organic produce; they can commence on small or medium agro based industry and reap profits which can increase the standard of living of the people. The CM brought to light the list of banned vegetable and advocated the progressive farmers of the area to focus on cultivating organic vegetables in order to be self-sufficient. Earlier, the CM laid the foundation stone for the up-gradation of 8 room school building at Lingmoo Kolthang Senior Secondary School.

During the course of the program the Chief Minister was felicitated by the students of Lingmoo Senior Secondary School and Greenvale Academy for his unwavering efforts in raising the prestige of the state in domestic as well as in international arena.
