Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang met Shri R.K. Singh, Minister of State (IC) of Power, New & Renewable Energy and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship today at New Delhi.
Chief Minister in his official Facebook page informed that they had a cordial meeting as regard to the request of the State Government to reduce the interest component of the loan taken by the previous Government from the Power Finance Corporation to reduce the liability of State Government.
He further added, "I apprised him about the various high priority schemes related to the power sector in Sikkim that has been awaiting the Government of India’s approval. I solicited his intervention to clear the pending project for which the Union Minister has given full assurance on the issue.
I also submitted the list of the schemes on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), Integrated Power Development Schemes (IPDS), North East Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) and Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR). The Power Minister has assured to take up the schemes and will inform us about any development in this regard"
“We discussed the Paris Convention on Climate Change and India’s commitment to follow the sustainable goals for developing the country. I also suggested the new technology on hydro-electricity generation which will help the powerhouses to reutilize the water in the lean season.

I also informed that the power projects which were abandoned during the previous State Government are being revamped with the help of Central Government by the LANCO Project at Sirwani and Jal Power Project at Jorethang, taking over by National Hydro Power Corporation Limited (A Government of India Enterprise),” the CM said in his post.
The Union Minister assured that these projects will be completed in a scheduled time.
