A man who is accused of raping his 19-year-old niece in the Machong rape and murder case in Sikkim, is being produced at the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Gangtok.
The gruesome rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl on November 8, hailing from Machong in East Sikkim, had sent shock waves across the State.
Post-mortem reports revealed that the cause of her death was strangulation and head injury, with visible sexual assault.

Earlier on Wednesday, protests erupted against the rape and murder of the girl in East Sikkim. The students of Sikkim University and the Government colleges in the State took to the streets in Gangtok, demanding early delivery of justice in the rape and murder case
After six days of lookout, the mystery of the young girl from Machong, Pakyong, has been unveiled, at last.

Aas Bahadur Rai, 23, has confessed before the Pakyong Police that he committed the crime of murdering the innocent girl. Rai, who is under custody of Pakyong Police right now, will be produced before CJM, Gangtok after some time. Rai is married and he is the paternal uncle of the slain girl.
